RANI BURNAT BENÖTIGT EINEN "NEUEN" ELEKTRISCHEN ROLLSTUHL

Es ist gelungen, in Deutschland während der nur zweiwöchigen Kampagne

Spenden in Höhe von 7.500,-- € für Rani Burnat zu sammeln!

 WIR SIND ÜBERWÄLTIGT UND FREUEN UNS SEHR FÜR RANI BURNAT!

 

Zusammen mit den in Israel gesammelten 1.500 € haben wir 9.000,-- € erzielt.

Der ursprünglich angestrebte Betrag für den Kauf eines "neuen" gebrauchten Rollstuhls, den Rani Burnat mit 3.500,-- € bezifferte, ist bei weitem überschritten.

Zwar reicht der erzielte stolze Betrag nicht für die Anschaffung eines nagelneuen elektrischen Rollstuhls, der sowohl hierzulande als auch in Palästina 11.500,-- € kostet und laut Ansatz der hiesigen Versicherungen zehn bis fünfzehn Jahre robust rollt. Wir haben aber dennoch allen Grund zur Freude! Die gesammelten Spenden werden Rani Burnat die Beschaffung eines funktional weitaus besseren, komfortableren und vor allem auch robusteren Rollstuhl ermöglichen, der nicht, wie die bisher beschafften laufend repariert und mit neuen Ersatzteilen bestückt sowie alle zwei bis drei Jahre vollkommen verschlissen ausgetauscht werden muss.

Mit Ihrer/Eurer Spende ist ein Beitrag zur Verwirklichung der Menschenrechte in einem Präzedenzfall möglich geworden. Die Behindertenrechtskonvention (2008) ist eine Säule des internationalen Rechts. Sie wurde von der Liga und ihrem Dachverband FIDH mit erstritten. Als Kernstück verbrieft sie Menschen mit Behinderungen die gleichberechtigte und vollumfängliche Teilhabe am politischen, sozialen, ökonomischen sowie kulturellen Leben in allen Bereiche als universelle Grund- und Menschenrechte! Denn Behindertenrechte sind Menschenrechte!

Der Zugriff auf die Ausstattung sowie auf Ressourcen zur Verwirklichung ihrer Menschenrechte, muss - das ist weltweit die politische Forderung aller Menschenrechtsorganisationen - jedem Menschen mit Behinderung vom Staat garantiert werden.

Rani Burnat ist ein Präzedenzfall für alle Menschen mit Behinderungen in den von Israel besetzten Gebieten Palästinas, die für sich selber sorgen müssen.

CONCLUDING STATEMENT FOR OUR CALL FOR DONATIONS:

TO ALL COMRADES-IN-ARMS, SUPPORTERS AND FRIENDS

During the two-week campaign in Germany, it was possible for us to

to collect donations totalling € 7.500, for Rani Burnat!

WE ARE OVERWHELMED AND OVERJOYED FOR RANI BURNAT!

In addition to the € 1.500 which were  previously collected in Israel we have been able to raise a total sum of € 9.000. Thus we have far exceeded the originally targeted amount of € 3.500 for the purchase of a "new" used electric wheelchair, which Rani Burnat estimated would be the cost. It is true, the considerable amount achieved is still not enough to purchase a brand new electric wheelchair, which would, whether in this country or Palestine, cost € 11.500, and according to the estimate of insurance companies in this country would last for ten to fifteen years. Nonetheless we have every reason to be happy! The collected donations will enable Rani Burnat to acquire a wheelchair which will function much better, be more comfortable and above all will be much more robust than the previous ones, which constantly were in need of repair, spare parts and which after three years were completely worn out and in need of replacement.

With your donation, a major step has been taken toward the realization of human rights in a precedent case. The Disability Rights Convention (2008) is anchored in international law. It was fought for by the League and its umbrella organization FIDH. As a core element, it secures for people with disabilities full and equal participation in all facets of political, social, economic and cultural life as a basic and fundamental human right! Because rights of the disabled are human rights!

The access to necessary equipment as well as to any resources required in order to exercise these fundamental human rights must be guaranteed by the state to each and every person with a disability - this is the political demand of all human rights organizations worldwide.

Rani Burnat's case sets a precedent for all people with disabilities in the Israeli-occupied territories of Palestine who have to fend for themselves.
