Dear Sam Stourdzé,

We are the Jüdische Stimme für gerechten Frieden in Nahost, a group of Israeli, European and other Jews living in Germany, who support the Palestinians in their struggle against the injustices they suffer under Israeli occupation.

We would like to thank you for your strength and courage in withdrawing from the Lacoste Elysée Prize 2011, and in supporting Larissa Sansour in her excellent and honest work.

No doubt you will be attacked for this decision and accused of anti-semitism; indeed many individuals and institutions bow down under such pressure.  But you have the support of many others, and we very much hope that your integrity will encourage others to stand up for their values in future.
